I worked in a watermelon patch and weeded the garden in my early teens, hauled in the firewood, plus other chores. We rode our bikes to baseball practice and to fish and anywhere else we needed to go. I seem to remember something about BB gun wars and fistfights behind the school. Not many overweight kids.
Thanks for sharing, guys. This thread made me laugh so hard I got misty-eyed...because it's all true!Last edited by Leatherstockiings; 01-22-2014 at 01:25 AM.

I hid on the edge of the golf course & snatched long balls when they got to close to the rough,,,take them back to the pro shop,,,clean them in the ball wash machine & sell them back to their owners at the end of the day. They never suspected a thing & were glad to get nice cheap golf balls, especially after losing theirs earlier in the day. They never suspected a thing,,,my buddie & I could make $15.00 to $20.00 on a good day.
In the winter, when the course was closed, I bagged groceries & mopped floors.

Well, John, I think the old adage holds true..." It takes a good scammer to be a good cop" !

I rest my case.

My first 45 record was " Wipe Out " By the Surfing Safaries....Sting Rays Bikes with Bannana seat and a 4 foot sissy bar...cheetah slick too..Big Bertha with a C-6-5 in it, mowing lawns for 2.00.. And had a paper route..Converse Allstar sneakers, penny candy, playing army with the green plastic soldiers, Lincoln logs, etch a sketch , a broom stick and tennis ball to play baseball, kick the can, flipping base ball cards at recess (was good at that ).And the old man whistled when it was time for Dinnah...
