I remember we got our first tv-set in the early seventies.
One whole channel was all we had for years, completely free of ads.
Not that we needed more, nobody stayed indoors anyway.

Playing Cowboys and Indians, going on afternoon fishing trips, nicking apples from our neighbors trees, skiing, biking, playing football and building cabins in the woods was way more fun than tv
Same here,we got A TV in about 1955,little round thing with a rabbit ear antenna, during the summer we never watched it.
Out at 6 A.M. home at dark, just played all day.

Cowboys and Indians? That game is banned now, if you play it, you will have to take a course in sensitivity training....

Different than my memories! We were constantly checking for ticks if we were in the local woods or goofing around in deep grass. The folks or we , when older, used a cigarette against their butts to get them to back out. Or sometimes put kerosene onto them so they couldn't breath. I still remember the krick in the neck from checking the less easily accessed parts of my body.

Who remembers mowing lawns for spending money, delivering newspapers 7 days a week before school,I had 50 customers and I made 50cents a month from ea. Making wood boats to float down the gutters when it rained.
making scooters out of two x 4s,we used old wheel berings and wood dowels to roll on.
cobbled together soapbox racers, skates that actually clamped on to your shoes and getting behind a delivery truck grabbing on to the rear bumper for a ride.
Hitchhiking rides to get between towns, putting pennys on railroad tracs to see them flattend.
Feel bad for todays youths.we had no fat kids back in the day,we were all to busy.

Did all those things except the hitchhiking part...and one other thing, climbing trees, I'm sure we all did that, only I seemed to specialize in falling out of them without getting too banged up!

Was 1955, the first episode of the micky mouse club was to debut at 5:30.
My buds and I were in our tree house,as a joke they left and took down the ladder,I was trapped like a rat,I was not going to miss the micky mouse club so I jumped maybe 15 ft to the ground, totally destroyed both my ankles.
I fell in love that night for the first time, annette Funicello, she was the most beautifull woman I had ever seen

Great story pixelfixed! For me, me and some buddies went and saw the Walter Mathau movie, "Bad News Bears", and from that moment on, I was in love with Tatum O'Neil...when I see pics of her today, I still get that old feeling!

How many of us had crushes on girls, movie stars, etc...
