For the last 35 years I have been cheated out of my Constitutional Right to Jury Duty. I had been served 3 times in the past & as soon as I show, they would see the police uniform & send me away with a , "You're excused, have a nice day."
Well, today showed me again,, that God has a sense of humor.
Last month a got my fourth jury summons for jury duty starting at 7:45am this morning. I'm retired & things will be different this time. I read all the rules that make you ineligible & none apply to me.
I bought a new shirt, got out my best slacks(only have 2 pair) & my dress shoes. Got a hair cut yesterday & slapped on some Pinaud before heading out the door this morning.
Lots of "talent" in the jury pool of over 300 people. I'm checking out the sites & wondering if I can truly be unbiased when I see the accused.
A young man walks by in the large waiting room where we all are sitting waiting room assignments. He's a juror too. He was wearing a sleeveless dirty T-shirt, a silver ring hanging from his nose, a "man-bun" on his head & sandals. I just shook my head & had several unflattering thoughts about him.
About 15 minutes later I start walking to the front of the room toward the restrooms. I feel something slapping the bottom of my left foot. The sole of my dress shoe had come completely off !! I don't have anything to fix it with,,, my duck tape is in the 4Runner 2 blocks away .
By the time I finished in the restroom & walked back to the rear of the waiting area, my right shoe sole was falling off too !!
My dress shoes were over 15 years old & I only wear them to funerals or weddings.
I get called by a lady to the front, no soles on my shoes, very embarrassing, she says Mr. Corley, "The defendant took a plea, you won't be needed. Have a nice day."
I walked through the court house & two blocks to my 4Runner with no soles & cheated again.

Wait, if Hirlau get's sequestered that means no SRP. Now that would be cruel and unusual.
The only time I was called up for selection was my final year of college. Luckily the trial was cancelled the week before selection. I would happily serve now.
