I've always heard it as a young (usually male) person with alot of energy. Your teacher friend probably hasn't heard of it, as it is a colloquialism. If she had a reference of colloquialisms with a section on personal titles however, well, then you would be in action there. I've never heard it in conjunction with an actual whip though, but have always wondered about a connection.

Actually "whippersnapper" is descended from "snippersnapper", meaning a young, self important, brash youngster.. sort of like what you find in any school today.

I had a pet goose once, it used to ride in the sled I would pull the newspapers in when I did my paper route.
I miss Feathers sometimes. It is just Whisker Whacking

Thanked: 24Some years ago I was a Deputy Sheriff out in New Mexico. I answered a call to a hogan out on the Reservation and one of my fellow Deputies was in the area who just happened along. The old lady who lived there had a big old goose raising cane at our presence. I pulled out my baton, extended it and walked toward the door. My partner admonished me telling me to put that thing away that the old lady was sick not a threat. The goose didn't chase me around the yard. But, the city boy was doing a dance. I didn't hit the goose I just had something to push its head away from me. My old buddy sure could cuss. He couldn't see what I thought was so funny.

I wonder if anybody has ever made a koala hair brush? Saw a show about them, and their hair looked like it would have a nice scritch to it.

Thanked: 68This is the thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends.
Ed started posting it, not knowing what it was, and we're still contributing just because...Don't do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the paramedics!
