Religion, politics, paychecks...probably best to keep them to yourself

I never saw the thread, but can understand the decision to remove it.

Resisting... urge... to go trash... other threads out of spite... just kidding - I would never do that.

I am very proud of how I personally managed and replied to the thread, and I am sorry that it was not replied to in a way that would have allowed for it to continue. In fact, I actually take real pleasure in knowing the thread itself, and how I personally handled the thread, was not the problem. It was certain people who commented on the thread, unfortunately both those in favor of, and opposed to the threads existence that caused its untimely demise.

Also, I respectfully disagree with the view that religion, politics, and other such "controversial" topics should be kept to yourself. Without undue offense, I think we miss out on the great benefit of learning from what other people think and believe about these topics - when we fail to address them respectfully.

On a much different, vegetable tanned note, feel free to check out my less controversial strop thread here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/strop...ade-strop.html and give me suggestions of how to reinforce my handle.

    Thanks!

    The SRP Forum

Although not specifically stated in the rules, the following conventions and traditions are to be followed here and you are expected to comply or face Moderator or Administrator action:

2.An Off-Topic (hereafter "OT") forum is provided for all other situations. While the OT forum is open to discuss anything you wish (within the limitations of our site rules, of course), we strongly urge that you refrain from starting threads on topics that traditionally become highly opinionated, such as politics, religion, sexual preferences, free speech, etc.

Interesting thread. I never saw the Bible verse thread. I do hope this forum does not sink to the the depths of some other forums in regard to their disrespectful, unfriendly, ungentlemanly nature. This forum has always struck me as being very gentlemanly, respectful and friendly with very few bumpy bits. I hope we stay that way.

I don't think we we have a coffee of the day thread. I hope someone doesn't make one, as I'm not sure those groups could co-exist.

On a more serious note, I guess it's good to highlight some areas where we all get along famously; there's the bowl latherers Vs the face latherers, the DE users and the Straight users, the soap users Vs the cream users. Why, there's even a workout thread where the obsessive workout guys chuckle at posts stating that 'Barry did arm curls with 12 pints of beer' from the non-workout guys...

We all get along pretty well, really...

Mmmm I was always told during my time in employment with a large UK Bank, never discuss politics, or religion. Nothing against either but both can generate very opposing views and in some cases start wars. So I've always tried to stick with that maxim.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

As a home-roaster, I'd have to say that certain limitations would be required: NO instant coffee! NO pre-ground coffee! NO flavored coffee! ONLY whole-bean coffee permitted -- preferably home-roasted, hand-ground, and freshly-brewed in a French press (with water at 197*F).

And none of those Espresso fanatics, with their expensive machinery and anal-retentive measurements allowed!!

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

This forum is indeed very Gentlemanly. One thing that is true is everybody has a opinion, and everybody is not always going to agree on every thing. We cannot control what people do or say to us, But we are complete control how we react!! We all need to agree to disagree at times. The moderators have a very hard job of keeping this forum a pleasing place to visit, with different Nationalities, Gender, Politics,And of course our opinions. That said I think the Moderator did a good job!! p.s. I'm a Believer !!!!

I had a cup of instant with milk and sugar today, a pre mixed iced coffee and a plunger coffee, with about 2.5 scoops of coffee used in the making and milk. Can we still be friends JB?
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast
