I was reluctant to get the cell phone. TBH the fact that it was called "Razr" really attracted me, and I like the size, slimness. So having gone for it in Nov. of 2011, I knew that I would never give up my land line. Three months later the land line was gone and I don't miss it. Cell phones are the only way to go. You guys who don't like them probably shave with straight razors !

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Search out the last cell phone thread where you asked the same question and we answered No wait - library are boring. I will regale for fun: I don't have a cell phone because I have no self control

Jimmy: funny, I did the opposite. Had a cell phone and never a land line until '06 when I got a land line - and then got rid of the cellphone a bit later

When I worked I had to carry 3 cell phones most of the time. When I retired I said good riddance. My wife bought me a basic phone to carry but I rarely carry it.

My phone is glued to my hip, or in my hands 24/7.
Couldn't imagine being without it, not even for a single day.

I do, however, answer incoming calls only when it is appropriate.
Friends and family have tired of trying to reach me after I have ignored their calls for years while working.

With a bit of discipline, it can be an aid and a wonderful tool, without that it will end up controlling you.

1/2 mile of coverage more and I will have no land line the cell service drops like a curtain about hallway down the road

That being said I rarely use a phone anymore,,

In the nightclubs we had to have instant communication so we progressed over the years from earbud radios to Nextel beeper phones..
In the car business a cellphone is your constant companion, sometimes in one ear and the landline in the other..

Now the computer does 90% of my communication, and honestly I do more texting with the wife and family then I do talking, she and my sister are busy at work, so it is actually easier for them to text when available, rather then to try and talk...

What I really hate is having two phone bills

same with my wife and family...we hardly ever call each other anymore. we use to call if we had something to say that was just way too long to send as a text, but with the voice recognition built into phones these days, its just as easy to hit the little microphone button and speak.

we dropped our Lan line a few months so only because we already pay $140 per month for 2 smart phones. We are lucky enough however to live in a relatively rural area with excellent Verizon coverage

I wouldn't dream of being without a cell phone. I use it much because it is so good to have for so many things.

I've never own a cell phone. Have my same hardwire phone number for 25+ years. Like some posted here I was on call 24/7 for a 40+ year career and had to carried company phone for some of that. Wife has one with roadside aid on it because she commutes.

I think it is all what a person needs and or what needs a person develops. I am so glad to not be on call anymore. GAWD! did I hate it.
