I hate them also, but I carry one my kids gave me when I was going thru chemo as an emergency outlet. They are still paying for it so I still carry it. Used it, maybe, 4 times in the past year from the grocery store. I still hate them.

Hate the damn thing. electronic leash. 10 buck a month Pantech. Pay 250 a month for all 4 ofem's smarties and I gotta 10 dollar phone. Every time it rings, it costs me money.

I've gone the other way. No land line, and my cell is my only phone. It has all the bells and whistles, allows me the freedom to do most anything I want online, etc. BUT I have no problem at all shutting it off, ignoring the ringer, and generally adapting its use to my usual misanthropic ways.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 4827I spend more than 6 months a year away from home. Mine is definitely needed, my wife on the other hand technically has one but does not carry it most of the time and even if she has it chances are it is not turned on unless she needs it for something. She may make 2 calls a year and doesn't see the point. However she is either home or at her office 95% of the time, both locations have phones. I get her point completely.

Thanked: 1195I have a cell phone but it's the most basic 11 year old flip phone I could find, and I'm the only person I know that still has one. I have absolutely no use for iPhones/smart phones, texting or other modern phone "marvels". All I need is something that makes and receives calls..... In other words, a phone LOL
