If it takes you 5 minutes to close to precontact from 1/4 mile , don't know if I trust the rest of your numbers!

Totally agree with your stance on this one, I used to fly AWACS and I can say that 2 radar hits and 1 IFF (transponder) hit would certainly raise a couple eyebrows in the back, and I would assume that would hold true with ground radar as well. Not a likely scenario.

They are never going to find this plane.

Meh. It's got to be somewhere. And latest news is they found debris that may have been a wing, and are now going to try and recover it.
I agree it's not the easiest recovery ever. They have to do an enormous amount of legwork and interviewing. But because this has gotten so much attention, they have resources at their disposal which a normal case wouldn't have gotten. I think the story will still come out.

I just heard the report for overnight here, daylight there, that the derbies that the Satt's had spotted yielded ZERO plane parts and that they were now moving the search to another area 750 miles away..

Not to apply math where we know it doesn't apply but just the other day they said the search area had been downsized to about the size of New Mexico last time I drove across NM was some time ago but I am pretty sure that puppy ain't close to 750 miles in any one direction, in fact about half that sounds about right...

Going N-S on I-25 it's about 500 miles. By air less.
