Default Why are beards having a resurgence?

    Any opinions on this?

The recent sporting of bushy beards by sports teams seems to have played a part. Here in Minnesota it's common for men to grow beards during deer hunting season.

My interest with this resurgence runs deeper. Why now? We're at a time where globally masculinity, it seems, is downplayed, discouraged and even disdained by an emasculated culture. The bushy beard thing seems to be out of step with the direction of society.

    Thoughts?

I sported a full beard for about 12 years, starting back in the mid-'70s. I had to shave when I came on active duty in the Navy, and that continued for almost 30 years, until I retired last year. But I went right back to my beard as soon as I put down my uniforms. As far as I'm concerned, beards never were out of style!

Different styles being recycled. It will be Miami vice square shouldered pastel jackets and boat shoes next year.
I grow a beard in winter for warmth and wind protection but I work outside In -20 to -45 so it helps with that. Never grew a beard before I lived here though.

Yep. Hipsters, compensating for a lack of understanding of what it means to be a man.
