USDA orders submachine guns?!??
Dept of Agriculture Orders Submachine Guns with 30 Round Magazines
Please. Tell me why??!? We (the US Citizen) are in serious trouble. Is this some sort of big fed response to Bundy's stand off with the BLM??

Well, first of all the source here is renowned for lies, half truths and gross exaggerations. So you need a reliable source. Even if it was true the USDA has numerous Law Enforcement Arms. Why should they be out gunned?

No ,,we are in no trouble. They are probably asking for bids as this is the time to organize & submit for the October budget. If you recall the specs in that linked article, all the "upgrades" have been on the civilian market for well over 15 years(with the exception of the two round burst, special stamps & docs required).
If there was to be a movement by the government against the civilian population at large, it would not be spear headed by the Dept. of Agriculture.
All agencies, whether they be as large as the BLM or your local police department, have one or more people assigned to the training & upkeep of their weapons. Most of the time , the people assigned are gun enthusiasts who are constantly looking or politicing to upgrade or expand their supply. Some are even getting a little extra in their pockets to secure contracts. To acheive this, they have to convince their bosses that the increase/upgrade is necessary. I can't think of how many times in my carrer that our department would come up ways to spend the remaining money from the prior year's budget, so we did not lose it in the coming budget. You would think that saving the unspent funds or reassigning it to more needy causes would be the way, but no,,,"If we don't spend it, we lose it.' is the mentality,
If the Bundy situation did anything with regard to the BLM, it gave their enforcement unit an eye opening realization that the civilian population was better "equipted" than they were. Now they have an excuse to spend some more money.

Just a quick look at USDA responsibilities reveals, the US Forest service is under the USDA and they are tasked with patrolling the Coronado national forest a few miles from here that is over run with drug smugglers carrying AK-47's and such. That is not the only wilderness area administered by the Forest service that abuts our border to the south. I think it only fair that our law enforcement folks are equally well armed...
The easy road is rarely rewarding.

A well-considered, thoughtful response. Hats of to you, Hirlau.
Maybe, you can also explain to me why certain federal non-military agencies have ordered more than 2 billion rounds over the last 12 months or so. Maybe, they're not afraid of insurection, but because our society is unraveling. It certainly isn't for “mandatory quarterly firearms qualifications and other training sessions” as the Office of the Inspector General states...
Also, the cost and availability of ammo on the market?? Any idea how much for a box of Wolf 7.62??? Seems like a back door run around the 2nd to me.
The perfect storms a brewin'??
