I am sure it would be fun but I can promise it will be cold and miserable after a couple hours. Take it from a guy that flies in helicopters for a living, that's a LONG day.

Thanked: 2027Was a great place to grow up as a kid,we had free reign of the hangers, the PX, the Commisarys,used to shoot jack rabbits on the runways and hunt ducks in the bay behind the base.Oh, and they had condom machines in the bathrooms,10 cents ea,was a badge of honer for all 12 year old guys to carry one in his wallet,they never got used tho

Thanked: 3228Yea, for sure it could be cold and miserable in an unpressurized aircraft on that route even in August. Still I doubt a flight in the aircraft type on the same route will ever be done again. To get to the UK and back they are risking 50% of the airworthy Lancasters left in the world. Relatively speaking airworthy P-51s and P-38s are a dime a dozen.
