Maybe if you could ship me one of those Bundeswehr bulletproof vests on Ebay.de that no one wants to ship overseas.

I was thinking the same thing. Buying a bulletproof vest is a sure way to draw attention to yourself in Belgium.
The police does not like people having bulletproof vests. The only shootings here (apart from the rare wacko on a shooting spree) are if a family drama gets out of hand and ends in a hostage situation.

In such a situation it would make a police intervention more dangerous for both the police and the hostages. They also fear that people will buy them with the intent of taking on the police during robberies.

In all fairness though, you can still buy them but in Belgium there is no reason to own a bulletproof vest unless you work in security or another high risk job.

That said, shipping one to the US could earn you an interview with someone from one government agency or other.
