What annoys me to no end is the fact that they all hit the floor and roll around crying from pain whenever something happens, and as soon as the ref has made a decision, they're right as rain again. Simulating should be punished hard.
Oh and the other fact that annoys me is that they still don't use video assistance for the ref, leading to some extremely unfortunate decision that everyone except the ref knew was dead wrong. Belgium got shafted in the 2002 world championship quarter finals. But this is all thank to Sepp Blatter who rigs his own election to keep the high seat.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I agree. If memory serves me correctly Bosnia got the shaft in this cup, too.
As for the injuries, I joked around with co-workers that the medical box they bring out probably has a sandwich and chips in it, not even 2 days later a player rolls and hold his knee in pain... med staff RUNS out to help. What did I see? Dude breaks open the cooler and gives him a water. Right as rain after that. And, don't get me started on this "magic spray" they have. Rinse and repeat as before. In fact, one gent at work counts the rolls out loud when someone goes down... 1 ... 2.... 3 ... 3 rolls ya wanker! LMAO!

Thanked: 14Video Assistance=Replay, which is code for more commercial time. It is after all a game, so what's the difference? The stadiums will still be abandoned in a month while many Brazilians starve.
Replay - An equivalent human looks at a video that the guy on the field saw? Replays are for sore losers, problem is someone still loses, and someone is still sore. The pap that the broadcasters (here's another beneficiary of replay delays) say "get it right" is self-serving at best, just prolongs the air time of what may at one time been a pleasurable diversion.

I am eagerly awaiting Uruguay vs Italy today.
And I also hope to see England deliver a better performance than they gave in the previous two matches.
With any luck Uruguay will outplay Italy and send them packing after the group stages.
The inventors of all that is bad in football*, Italy, is very much THE team to "hate" in my book.
Pirlo or not
*Match fixing, doping, life threatening 3-second injuries and the world record in gallons of hair-gel on a pitch simultaneously.

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

I'm anxious to see if Suarez can keep up his level of play. One would think that it might be tough because of having surgery so recently.
I don't dislike Italy as much as you but I completely understand it. One of my Italian American friends has a love/hate relationship with the team. He has spent quite a bit of time in Italy and Argentina (some ancestors from Italy moved to Argentina). He always has a ton to root for come cup time.
He agrees with me that Pirlo is a joy to watch and easy to root for. We also love the fact that Italy's best striker is not the typical Italian caucasian. The irony is fantastic ( Italy is notorious for having racist chants /slurs hurled at non - Caucasians/mostly those of Africa decent).
I normally wouldn't like a player as seemingly egotistical as Balotelli but in this case I root for him as well.
That all being said, I hope Uruguay wins.

Suarez's total lack of control completely marred this game and his country's win.
There should be a suspension of some significance because his actions were totally absurd (and it's the 3rd time he has bit or tried to bite an opponent).
It's hard to feel empathy when a large soccer/futbol power goes down to an underdog but I'm ticked off for Italy.Piyush
