The world is in flux and it has been since the first pre humans existed. There have always been periods when war and hate have swept the known world and there have been periods when universal (well almost) peace has reigned. These are cycles and they will always be with us.

People always pine for the past and the good old days and though some good old things were good remember you have to take the good with the bad. For those of us who are getting long in tooth Just think of all the relatives and friends who died back in the 40s and 50s who might have lived many years longer or who might still be around if science and medicine and general safety had been where they are today. Maybe the 1800s were neat times but how many folks survived childhood or died in their 30s or 40s back then?

With each generation the old have reservations about the next generation and things do change. I remember going to the Worlds Fair in NYC in 1964 and I remember all the wonderful exhibits and predictions for the future and how our world would be better and different. You know what? They got it all wrong. Few of the things they predicted for even 20 years later ever happened let alone 50 years later. Even with all the advances folks lives are pretty much the same as they were in the 1950s when you look at the basics.

In the end we're like surfing a timeline and eventually we run out of surf and the next folks come in on the next wave and it just keeps going on and on. No use pining for what will never happen. it's better to try to improve the deck of cards you've been dealt now.

Down the road History will judge us as it judges our entire civilization.
