Thanked: 21Awesome to know there is a fishing thread here. I'm a fly-fisherman. I fish mostly smallmouth bass and trout, and occasionally will hit the Erie trips for steelhead. I own two kayaks and have fished Rhode Island for blues and stripers, and the occasional false albacore. But far and away, my favorite place to fish is Chokoloskee FL. I've taken two trips there with friends of mine. What an amazing place to fish. The back country is loaded with snook, tarpon, reds, etc.

Been a busy year for me with twins in the 3 year old range and getting off deployment in December. I am finally going to get the boat out this weekend and head out for a couple 10 hours of so. Hopefully I have some luck. I always have a hard time in super clear water out here on the west coast but I have certainly gotten better over the last 3 years. Its a different world out here and you have to depend on electronics way more than I was used to coming from the east/south fisheries. The main goal is to get out on the boat and have some piece and quiet. Wish me luck!

MarineDad I grew up on a Champion, ours was maroon and gold. It was always a head turner because back then no one on the east coast/midwest had Champions. They were "big water" boats and "expensive" when in reality a ranger or skeeter was pretty close in price so my dad always got a kick out of people thinking it was some kind of exotic bass boat. It was really just a bunch of old guys scared of change. I have a couple locals in San Diego that won't get a new boat because they sold the molds and aren't Champions anymore.
