Scary stuff. It is hard to imagine someone wanting to kill someone for no good reason. Yet there are those that do.

Was just watching the report before I had my shave...one thing that stood out for me. The community managed to come out and protest the Australian raids quite quickly and promptly, local Muslim pundits were quick as usual to tell the same story about not painting the entire community with a single brush - which I agree with.

But it does beg the question - where were these same protesters out slamming the Muslim extremists for their murder of aid workers, journalists, and other innocent civilians? Were is this same community sending a message to society at large and to their own communities that this type of extremist behavior won't be tolerated, and will be reported to the authorities. Surely "no-one" in the community can be oblivious to whom amongst them espouses these views....why is it when a raid like this happens their is an immediate protest form the community, but when another aid worker or journalist is brutally executed you only hear, "crickets", basically silence from this same community?

Indeed, a good question, Phrank. Only two answers as I see it. Either silent fear or silent support. JMO
I have a friend from Lebanon. Many times, I sit with him and ask why things are as they are. Quite enlightening. To hear about the turmoil from someone who has been there with family scattered about and homeless versus what the PC media tells us is quite two different sides of the coin.

The only question that needs to be addressed by our Aussie brothers is, " How many Salties can you feed with 15 Jihadies?"

I think this is very true.
Here in the states where extremists are relatively rare I would think it would be easy for the muslim majority to come out as being very against the muslim extremists.
However, like was said, I don't know the whole story, and to be quite honest I'm not sure that I want to.

John Kerry said today that the so called extremists are a threat to Islam and that there is nothing in Islam that suggests that their actions have justification. Where is he getting this? Is this coming from the CAIR representative whispering in his ear? For all that is being done in the name of the religion, I find it hard to believe that matters are as simple as that. But instead of trying to insist, maybe we better do a little more homework on the matter. I firmly believe that there will be another terrorist attack here in the US on the level of 9/11 or greater in the next decade. Perhaps quite soon. If and when that happens, I think it'll be high time to have some frank discussion about this without all of the stupid slogans we roll out in order not to offend anyone. And if these so called extremists are such a threat to Islam, why is it that we are the only ones ready to confront them? How different would our politicians feel about these matters if the plane that crashed in PA found its way to the capital? Would they still be making these stupid statements? I don't know that these slogans will cut it in the public eye if there is another national tragedy. At that point, maybe these statements will be a little more democratic in nature.

I don't expect my muslim friends to apologize for or have to distance themselves from crazy people who call themselves 'muslims' any more than I expect my christian friends to apologize for or have to distance themselves from crazy people who call themselves 'christians'.

Gugi -- I was going to say something like that, but decided that I'd let somebody with 14,000 posts say it....there are extremists on all sides of us.
