Routine drives me nuts! SSDD is terrible! Variety/stress makes fun.

Wish I could remember a good day at work, 34 years is a long time to be a drone.

I work for a general contractor in a small Mennonite town doing custom homes, Renos, Window replacements, fancy decks and many, many other smaller things. We even do crack filling in foundation walls now with a urethane based product. That's a lot of fun to do. But a good day for me is when I'm doing the finish carpentry, which I get to do a lot of. Hanging doors, casing, base board, fireplace mantels. I love doing that stuff.

And then you get to go home and have more fun with the brushes and the like while drinking micro beer. A double fun life if I've ever heard of one.

Before I was with the CCG I worked part of the year in commercial fishing and part of it doing construction. I mostly did interior finishing, flooring, tile, drywall paint, cabinets, I can do it all, and enjoy that too. What I am not very good at and do not enjoy is paperwork. I'm ok with book keeping, but I hate writing reports and filling out forms. Those days are the ones that make me get all wound up.

It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I've had to do quotes and take offs in the office before. Blahhhhhhh, I hate it. I must have screwed something up, because my Boss has never had me back in there again.

    Thank God!!!

I'm the first to admit, I'm not smart but I'm good with my hands.

A great day for me starts with PB&J, coffee and the crossword puzzle. It then proceeds to a shower and a shave. One of the high points of the day is my daily shave because, being retired I don't have to shave. I shave because I want to, not have to. I clear the computer for a few hours and then tend to my creative work. That's the part that gives me the most mental stimulus, a combination of stress and completion of a part of the visual puzzle of the current project. For the physical part I try to get to the gym three-four times a week for a cardio workout. All that and the thought of a nice dinner completes the day. Add in the company of a half Siamese cat that thinks she's human (and can swear, in cat language with the best of us).
