Aye that it has, the rain had spits of Snow in there yesterday, we are expecting a long Winter this year and Fall is fading fast..

Just finally got some time and dropped the two dead tress by the house this past week, have a few more to drop before the first real snow hits..
Put away the dirt moving implements for the Tractor and brought out the snow moving ones
According to the long range forecasting we are supposed to only have an average Winter but it sure seems to be getting here early

Yes, it is very close here in Wisconsin as well, I'll be getting some straw to cover up the strawberry plants today or tomorrow and storm windows will go on before the weekend as well.

When you sitting here in the dark, using your iPhone's personal hotspot, as a massive power outage has hit the area, 50mm of rain in about 2 hours, flooding throughout the GTA, yup, in another month, that will all be snow...but right now, it's pretty darn dark but at least it's not -25 C like it was for 7 days straight end of December last year.

    It's all good....

Living in Whiskey n' sin, I look around on this 72F day and see:
A neighbor on the roof doing gutter clean out before winter.
Another with all the garden tools out of the shed and pulling out the snow shovels.
Another doing preventive maintenance on his snow blower.
Another putting the snow blower onto his yard tractor.
Yes, I do think winter is coming soon.
Guy across the street making a last heavy run to the dump with all the trash of the summer.

My shed was open and the winter gear was coming out and onto the covered porch. I have a wonderful neighbor's good will to do the snow blowing these winters. I buy gas and add a bit of money and buy his family a dinner out once a month. This neighbor is a gift in my old age!

My breathing became very badly affected by exhaust and poorly adjusted furnaces' stack gas and trucks. So, winter is a time to stay inside and work in the shop.

Because I gave him permission to place a lot of plowed snow onto a spare lot across the street, the township snow plow comes a foot in front of my front porch steps and comes back on the other side of the street and across the car park drive so there is no snow pack behind the car and there is little clean-up to do. The neighbors truck is cleaning up the car park. Snow on the other side of that truck was piled nine feet high by the town plow last winter!
    Counting my blessings!!
    I am extremely fortunate!

HAH! From where I sit (and that's not very far north of where you sit), winter means two things:

    • Snowbirds down from "up North"; and
    • Beautiful weather for bicycle riding!

I'll gladly suffer the former, for the pleasure of the latter.

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Yes...another thing we agree on...all the ornery old people leave for the winter, which is good.

And the fact that they're not behind the wheel of their 8 door Lincoln's or Buick's means a greater survival rate for the rest of us....which is, of course - priceless...
