I have 149. I have been subscribing to threads I thought were important as a resource since I started on this forum. Gone back in numerous times to refresh my memory. I could probably safely delete half of what I have in there ........... I mean out of my subscribed threads .......... not delete as a moderator .......
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Currently around 45. Keeping it clean. Can always do a search if needed for an old thread. Out of sight, out of mind until needed.

It is fun. Where I frequently use it is to find a pertinent (as in on topic
) post to link in a thread where a newb, or a seasoned member is looking for info. Going through my subscriptions I find 'classic' threads that would otherwise be lost to me .......... unless I did a search for that topic. Even then, I might overlook some of the cream of the crop. Subscribing to threads can be a good thing .......... or maybe sometimes too much of a good thing ..........

Yeah. I saw that too. I was reliving the first posts. "I'll just do a few dry swipes.." or some such noob nonsense. I'm glad you guys tolerated my very basic questions and gave me such good pointers! Never would've made it without this place and you guys.
On the "why subscribe" question:
I find it so much easier for following up with helping someone or a topic of interest if I subscribe to a thread and set the alert type to Instant Email.
There is a setting that I toggled when I first got here that automagically subscribes me to any thread to which I make a post. Pretty handy at times, but require a little more legwork between going to the email, deciding whether there's more valuable info potentially coming or putting a fork in her and callin' her done.
I may just give up on worrying about it at all, but I've gotten much better in making determinations to Unsubscribe.
I think I must have Subscribed(by comment) and Unsubscribe(by email) the Off Topic Anonymous thread well over 20 times.

Actually I don't remember ever setting anything for subscribed threads but I have almost 18,000 of them.

Ewwww... Had I known it would lead to the wasting away of a valuable SRP member, I would have requested a quick thread delete from a mod.
