Hydrophobic blades one day ?
Amazing story concerning the laser etching discovery which produces a super hydrophobic surface on metals . The down side is that the process currently take about a hour per square inch. So we probably will not see it on blades anytime soon.

I'm sure it works great until the oxidation (rust) changes the surface texture, then its just plain old rusty steel again.
The easy road is rarely rewarding.

Thanked: 118Imagine how easy it would be to maintain a Stainless Super Hydrophobic Straight. As long as you strop after use you would be good. You would literally only have to maintain the edge.
May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!
