How would you like your body to be disposed?
Just read another thread that was talking about death, so I thought I'd ask if you guys have thought about what would you like to happen to your body after you die.
And also why? I imagine there are the usual reasons - religion, tradition, romanticism/idealism, ease, environment, but there have to be more.
As far as me I'm a fair bit under the average life expectancy, so I haven't really considered it or made any arrangements, but I pretty much don't care. I suppose my family will burry me in a pine coffin since that's the norm in my culture and I'm perfectly fine feeding the worms and insects and the rest becoming fertilizer for plants. Circle of life and all that sounds quite sensible. Or just leaving me to the vultures and wildlife would have the same effect, though I'm not sure if that's legal.
I wouldn't care if I get sliced into pieces by medical students either, but I suppose for that to happen I may have to actively request it.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Always told SWMBO just have me cremated, open the window and let me fly out. No need to have a place where family can come and see my soul holder.

Thanked: 3215I to do not really care, but having gone through the process with my mother in law, a couple of years ago, it is really sad, how that industry is set up to take advantage of a family’s grief.
Fortunately she had the foresight to pre pay for the bulk of the expenses, having lost a son in the early 70’s and purchased a family plot and much of the expense. The cost of the plot now, compared to what she had paid was almost criminal.
While we were spared that whole drama and traumatic decision making, we witnessed other families making them, clearly at their worst time. Many decided at least verbally to spend ghastly amount of money, often saying they wanted their loved ones to “have the best.”
Both my wife and I have agreed to cremation.
