    Default I hate Windows 8!

My 7-year-old Windows 7 laptop finally wore out and for the last day or so I have been transitioning to a Windows 8 laptop. Actually I've had the laptop a couple of years but delayed using it as long as I could because of Windows 8.

I found an app that makes the interface more like Windows 7 but it seems like when I press a key or move the touchpad mouse there is a hesitation. I can't stand that!

If things don't get better soon I'm going to try to put Windows 7 on this machine.

I dunno, when the wife uses her Win8 laptop you get the goofy Win8 start up page first. She then just clicks the "desktop tile" on that start up page and she's is off similar to Win7. No troubles with slow response.

    Yup - that's what I do.

And since your 7 year old CC has a new one, Microsoft is offering a free upgrade to Window's 10 for free, which is coming out soon...

I read that the upcoming Windows 10 will give the option of running a more touch screen type window manager, like Win 8, or more mouse/keyboard, like Win 7. Not sure if that is accurate, but the early testing seems to show that.

I switched to a MacBook Air years ago. I use Windows 7 at work and the Mac at home, no trouble at all.

I run Linux mint 17 at home. I've got 7 on my laptop, and if it is true that those who have 7 or 8 can upgrade free the first year I'll go to 10 once the smoke clears and the bugs are out of it. Linux is the best. Just that there are some programs that are proprietary Windows.

A good friend of mine here who heads IT for the city for many years has been running a beta version of 10 and said 10 is very promising.

I come room sites like this to relax and unwind. What I want from an operating system is transparency and not frustration.
