Some more entertainment for pixelfixed.
For contrast '94 was the first year they forced us to wear PSE (personal safety equipment - fall arresting gear). The year before '93 we could still free climb. This is the next water crossing over same height but free climbing.

pixelfixed - On the flip side, working underground power I can not stand (but did it anyways) being in holes or in the dirt over my head. That just frakkin' gave me the creeps. Go figure. Could free climb/walk 3" angle iron at any height day or night but put it deep in the ground and my knees quiver.

Not in a million ferkin' years!
Found out I get vertigo visiting an office with a raised second level over the reception area, walked towards the railing to have a look and got dizzy, was like a spinning sensation...almost ended up on my knees two feet away from the railing...was paralyzing...I'm not afraid of heights at all which is strange, just the difference in heights scrambles my brain....that and marriage!

After leaving the Navy in 65 i was working as a radio and TV repairman for a shop which also was the cable folks. I did get to climb a 300' radio transmission and cable receiving tower on the highest hill in the area (300' AGL) and change the lamp...at night. Would have been sh!+less during the day! Flight does not bother me but anything over 6 feet now gets me the quivers.
I stay off ladders!

Sorry that it took this tragedy to bring up and interesting thread. Is the car better?
As I get older I think that I get more common sense than it is that I get afraid of heights. I have a very hard time walking to the edge of the roof at work with a 6 inch curb. [7 stories] But where there is a railing I can walk right up and look over.

Thanked: 220Sorry to hear that, you're probably in a world of hurt. I've been fortunate with the ladders, I've spent a lot of time on them but have yet to fall off of one. My late Father did once though, and ended up with a concussion. Hope you have a quick recovery. Godspeed.

Thanked: 37Sorry about your accident, I am 65 and I notice the balance issues. Wish you a speedy and full healing.

and hard to go by, say the wise. Katha Upanishad – 1.3.14
