My last truck was a diesel but I went back to gas. Unless i was working it very hard it averaged about 25% better per gallon than a comparable gas engine. Diesel has been more than 25% higher than gas.... And harder to start in the winter.
I miss the diesel though, the truck fell apart around the engine.

Thanked: 884Bullet hole is inbound.Rick still has no idea where it came from. Happened a couple of years ago. He noticed it when got it in it to go to work. 45ACP slug laying on the driveway and that hole in the door. It was pretty much out of poop when it hit the truck. 45ACP isn't known as long range round so we figure it was a wild shot from somewhere no too far from his house. Rick doesn't have a 45ACP so I know he didn't do it.
It'll have TX Viet Nam Vet tags on it in a few weeks. I blacked out the front tag because Rick has handicap tags on it. We always laughed about the handicap tags on that beast because if you can climb in and out of that damn thing, you ain't hurtin too bad.
Wife took it to work yesterday. Freaked everybody out at the flower shop where she works. She had fun messing with one of the guys that has an F-150 4WD with the fat tires and lift kit. His truck is sharp. Told her to tell him that real trucks don't have spark plugs.
She's changed her mind. She LOVES it except for having to climb in and out. It's a bit of a chore her 5'5'' frame. I'll get a couple of those cast aluminum steps for it and then she'll probably want to drive it EVERYWHERE.
Funny thing, I bought a solid black '73 F-100 XLT when I got back from 'Nam. It had a 390 and C-6. Hell of a truck. Hard to keep clean. Drove that punk for 200K miles and swore I'd NEVER have another damn black truck.
Never say never.Last edited by Wullie; 06-06-2015 at 02:08 PM.

A 45ACP doesn't have to be too far away to kind of fall into the impact zone.
Getting in that beast...my F150 4x4 crew cab is high enough I'd have trouble without the side steps.
And..."Black"...Well if they have any demonstrators in DFW you won't have to worry about them laying across the hood on a sunny day, even if they could reach it!!
