    Default Warning! Mild Gore.

Can't say I didn't try to warn ya.

And if a Mod considers this post distasteful and/or offensive, they may remove it with no fuss out of me. Just never know when some people will think something is out of line . Moving on...

I've mentioned before that I am unapologetically harsh to my extremities. I also tend to think of my job at the bread factory as a full contact sport . For example: I can't go a week without a bloodied shin from trip hazards... or just plain tripping up the stairs lol.

The injury (maybe too strong a word... "boo-boo"?) I got a week ago was, however, slightly unexpected. I ripped off about a third of my thumbnail. "Pics! Or it didn't happen!"

This is how a man breaks a nail!

    That one tickled.

How? I was trying to sure-up a couple stacks of bread pans after having straightened one of the stacks. I was trying to use the blunt handle of a makeshift prybar to "nudge" the stack against the other. Well, I somehow managed to miss all but the seam on the very corner of the pan. Which only part of the leading edge of my thumbnail made contact with. The results are as above.

How about y'all? Got any humdinger of a work boo-boo?

A year and a half ago, I broke my other thumb moving some bread "sponge" dough into position to be hoisted into the mixer. Don't have the pics & pics of the x-rays on this phone, however.

Missed a concrete stake with a framing hammer, but it was ok my shin stopped it.

Got my ring finger on a table saw once.

I'm sure there's a bunch more those are the only ones that come to mind. I did watch a guy almost take his leg off with a skilsaw, that screwed me up for a week, the guy healed alright considering.

I got a steel splinter yesterday but a tweezer took care of it. I'm okay now.

Was ripping thin stock (1/2" x 4") for scale blanks yesterday on the tablesaw. The far end on the board came up a little and I attempted to adjust my push block to push it back down. The result was that the board shot back at me nailing me square in the testicles. (Nobody wants to see pictures of that)
No permanent damage done, but that sure did hurt worse than I remember.

I ripped the bottom half off of one of my nails while trying to rip out a hang nail once so I feel your pain. The worst part was that the initial tear didn't hurt as much as afterwards when every touch or even slight breeze made it flair up. I also once drilled a hole in my ankle with the point of a spade bit while holding it in one hand and trying to step over something and when I swung my leg over it went straight into the ankle. Cut a portion of the tip of my pointer finger off on a bandsaw when a friend decided to push me when I was cutting something. Other than those most of my boo-boos are small, but I seem to get alot of the small ones. I guess I would rather have a few small ones than one really bad one. Knock on wood.

So how much blood does your bread recipe call for?

I don't have any diseases and such, so the bread just needs to not get turned pink... for some reason, that tends to put people off their meal.
