Er... a greater force for good than Columbus? I would invite anyone who has bought into the old myths about Columbus himself and the impacts of his voyages to dig a bit deeper into the historical record!

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.

Consider the following: GREECE AND WORLD: Minoan colonies in America?

The evidence for significant copper mining through North America is difficult to ignore. Long before the Vikings or Columbus.

Can't resist throwing the Basques out there too. An absolutely fascinating people and culture who most likely were fishing Newfoundland's Grand Banks for quite some time before the other Europeans showed up. The tricky thing is that no one knows when they started coming over. It's unlikely that they pre-dated the arrival of the Norse, but who knows?

On the west coast the first nations have mined copper for a very long time. Copper was very important in trade and weapons and tools.

"The Vikings" by Robert Wernick - a good history, minus the war, pillaging and other violent stuff....great read - a "Pixel Pick"!

Thank you for a great read! I enjoy "possibilities!"
In North Central WI there are traces of other groups being in the area a looong time back. Family histories of some of the folks have tales of finding things and tombs of bygone era.
One book has information about such a find. It was written by a game warden; sorry, I do not remember the title. I shall see if I can find it again. I also knew some of the finder's family he speaks of. The story was thought to be about a Aztec tomb in a cave...now sealed by the finder. Could be that it was waaay earlier?
Thanks again for piquing my curiosity bump!

The story of the Kennewick Man here in Washington is rather interesting. He predates Columbus by just a bit.
