    Default Who discovered America???????

    In fourteen hundred ninety-two
    Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
    He had three ships and left from Spain;
    He sailed through sunshine, wind and rain.
    He sailed by night; he sailed by day;
    He used the stars to find his way.
    A compass also helped him know
    How to find the way to go.
    Ninety sailors were on board;
    Some men worked while others snored.
    Then the workers went to sleep;
    And others watched the ocean deep.
    Day after day they looked for land;
    They dreamed of trees and rocks and sand.
    October 12 their dream came true,
    You never saw a happier crew!
    “Indians! Indians!” Columbus cried;
    His heart was filled with joyful pride.
    But “India” the land was not;
    It was the Bahamas, and it was hot.
    The Arakawa natives were very nice;
    They gave the sailors food and spice.
    Columbus sailed on to find some gold
    To bring back home, as he’d been told.
    He made the trip again and again,
    Trading gold to bring to Spain.
    The first American? No, not quite.

    I like to watch a lot of the discovery channel specials and from what I see and here there has been people in the Americas for many centries before Columbus. Who knows maybe maybe Martians. I do know one thing I like watching history on TV more than when I was in the class room.

    Queen Isabella looked upon the bounty that Columbus had bestowed,
    Rows of spices, trees and ingots of gold.
    Columbus told stories of a faraway land,
    Where blondes bath nude on Key West sand.

    Still the Queen was not happy,
    As Columbus could tell.
    Many months out to sea,
    And all was not well.

    Queen Isabella leaned forward,
    To address Columbus with a nod;
    “Back aboard the Santa Maria with you,
    don’t return home, till you’ve brought back some Pinaud!”

    Well if we look back to the last ice age, there were places that were not frozen over. When the ice receded people migrated from the islands in the ice and spread out and populated much of North America. The one place that had people spring forward from it was what is now Haida Gwaii. So likely the first Americans were people migrated from here!

    Actually I thought it was the Viking's and their Orange cats who landed in North America as the first Old World explorers....
