Dont use a pedometer, have one but dont use it. My work is mostly stationary so it would be rather depressing to use. I do swim 1-3X a week, depending on my work schedule and have purchased a stationary bike with magnetic resistance so its quiet and I can watch TV while peddling. No excuses left to not use it. Used to run a lot but the orthopedic surgeon said not to any more due to my rapidly deteriorating knees. Hopefully with time the biking (indoor and out) will make it so my knees are not constant pain anymore. Doc tried an injection (not cortisone) that was supposed to lubricate the knee (we did the worst one first) but it didn't work and as it cost 500$ we wont try that experiment again.

I don't blame ya if it didn't work. I know what you mean about deteriorating knees. My orthopedic surgeon said the discs in my back are slowly deteriorating so & the last accident on my Harley didn't help. People just don't think or know how their drinking can affect a person when they cause an accident. I know I need to get my dog out more for walks. Him being 80 lbs, he's very strong. I can't deny him a walk here & there. He's such a good boy!

In middle school (15~ish years ago), being the lowest rung on the social ladder in every respect, one of the "bully types" thought it'd be hilarious to spear (shoulder-charge) me in the back at full speed during P.E. in the gymnasium. All my weight landed on my right knee. No health insurance, dirt poor, so no x-rays. Couldn't put weight on it for about two weeks... and hurt like hell for a while after that... but I got real good at limping! Anyway. Except for this past year, my knee would hurt in a near crippling way every spring and fall. But I have found ways to prevent the pain, rather than mitigate it with a soft brace.

The first thing that helped the most was riding bicycle! If I didn't go for a good ride at least every two weeks or less, my knees would ache even when it wasn't the season for it. Bicycling is great low impact exercise, and it strengthens the small control muscles. A lot of contributing factors making it good for the knees.

Secondly, and this helped with all my aches and pains, especially my joints. The appropriate* Centrum multivitamin. Helped with a lot of things, including helping me become sleepy in a more natural manner/cycle. That is, it took some of the edge off my insomnia .

I hope this was helpful! (& I didn't babble too much.)

I like that. I used to have plenty of vitamins & I need to get into them again. I was actually recently thinking of getting some Centrum multivitamins. They should actually be of some help!

Centrum multivitamins are, if I recall correctly, pretty much the only vitamins (multi or otherwise) that have been proven through scientific studies to have positive benefits. Individual vitamins usually have unnecessarily huge amounts of whatever single nutrient.

My earlier *= One tine, I made the mistake of getting a bottle of Centrum Silver for men. It wasn't bad for me, but the difference of how the two varieties affected me was surprising. 8 to 10 hours after taking it, I would get so tired I had trouble staying awake on the short drive home from work. Also, it obviously improved my prostate health as signaled by an increase in urine flow...
Not needed, but filed away for later in case I ever suspect a prostate issue .
