I have never handled either of the guns you are asking about but I own a heritage arms single action in 22/ 22mag and what a fun gun to shoot. Plinking with 22's is such a joy I love my big guns but there is something about shooting pop cans with a 22. Enjoy which ever you go with and post a pic

Thanked: 228I bought a Ruger MkI from a co-worker. Wouldn't cycle and I found it was all gunked up. I guess he never cleaned it. I cleaned it and it works like a champ now. Not one misfire or failure to fire or cycle properly since then, and I've had it for at least 20 years. You can't go wrong with a Ruger in my book!

Thanked: 351For casual shooting.... (not that we can do that north of the border) I'd pick the Ruger. The Smith is a fine piece of hardware, I used to own one for competition shooting, but to me the Ruger is better suited for casual use. If they still made them, I would have suggested a Hi Standard, I fired 300 rounds per week in practice for some 8 years in one, and it never missed a beat or jammed on me... I could not say the same for the Model 41 Smith.
