Every time there has been an Immigrant wave it's the same story. They're coming and they're gonna take over and they threaten us. It happened with the Chinese and we passed laws to exclude them. It happened with the irish and the italians and every other group. We locked up the Japanese during WWll. The Nazi's sent sabateurs to the U.S to stir up unrest in the German Communities. Most of that was kept secret from the population. Muslims have been living here in the U.S for a long time and there is no move to Sharia Law and never has been. Every Immigrant group has their militant factions with radical ideas. We have our own homegrown radicals who have killed more folks here than any outside group over the years.
The difference now is the Politicians are using it to stoke fear and we're bombarded with nonstop media coverage which magnifies the incidents. It very comforting for some politician to get up and give some simple answer to a very complex problem which will make all the fear go away very quickly. Unfortunately too many folks are just a bunch of simpletons and believe.
yes there is fear but there is reasonable fear and unreasonable. I think the chances of being a victim of crime, or dying in a car crash or getting cancer are far far greater than becoming the victim of terrorist violence. Unfortunately certain political factions are just using it for their own advancement. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Very well said, TBS
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Several differences in the 'Immigrant wave,' compared with the others you mentioned. One, the dialogue is more about the illegal immigrant wave and another is: have any of the languages of the other 'waves' of immigrants become the 2nd language of the United States?

I can't remember the last time I voted for a candidate, instead of against another...
Sad state of affairs!
BTW, the people that come here illegally are not immigrants, but invaders!

Thanked: 3215All of that nonsense that the press spins ad nausea, does not really matter, the 3 branches of government will balance it all out, no matter who the president is.
Why the GOP plays into it predictably with kneejerk reaction, speaks volumes about its leadership or lack of, and may be the crippling deathblow to the party. That boiling point frustration, is what has created a Trump, poke in the eye candidate, who may be too late to stop.
Can’t tell you how many folks I have spoken with, will switch to Independent, after the election.
The most important result of the the election, will be the new president’s ability to replace probably 2 and maybe as many as 4, Supreme Court Justices… and that will determine the course of the USA, for years to come.

It is extremely unlikely that Donald Trump will become president. His general unfavorability is very high plus if he wins the republican nomination the ideological faction of the party (that presently has an outsize influence) will likely prefer him to lose so that they can try again in 4 years rather than him hijacking the party and leaving them out of it.

Thanked: 3215And that is exactly what the press has been saying since before he announced…
It’s not about Trump, but still the party is not listening…
