Or C, trying to get their names on something for posterity that really is a nothing in the grand scheme of saving our country to say that they accomplished something while in office.

Let's say Billary gets to be president.....and Congress is Republican. Will she get anything done? Will anyone get anything done? Same thing if Trump got in...... Congress doesn't always go with what the President wants. (Unless the President issues executive orders...which is BS mostly) Lot's of inflated egos and worrying about being elected again are the problems with most politics. I say bring out term limits! 3 terms for the House and 2 for the Senate.....and then you are out! Cut the pensions too! Save the taxpayers mucho dollars!

It's a bill that's about to become a law, it doesn't really matter what were the motivations of those who created it (a sort of Scalia type textualism). At the end of the day what matters is whether it has positive or negative effect.

Seems like you are saying it has no positive effect, which amounts to negative because the time, effort and money on it is wasted.

So ask yourself how does changing a few labels, that a vast majority of country have no clue exists, improve our nation? What is it going to change that's going to make such a massively huge difference in our lives that we will forever be changed and justify the expense to do so?

To me it's just incredible this country is agonizing over this issue.

I mean, if folks are afraid someone will go into an opposite sex bathroom with bad intentions well anyone can put on a wig and change clothes and do it anyway and probably have in the past but the media hasn't ginned it up.

The media hasn't "ginned it up" in the past possibly because in the past the government hadn't enabled the means:

California Penal Code 647:

Except as provided in subdivision (l), every person who commits any of the following acts is guilty of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor:

(d) Who loiters in or about any toilet open to the public for the purpose of engaging in or soliciting any lewd or lascivious or any unlawful act.
(j)(1) Any person who looks through a hole or opening, into, or otherwise views, by means of any instrumentality, including, but not limited to, a periscope, telescope, binoculars, camera, motion picture camera, camcorder, or mobile phone, the interior of a bedroom, bathroom, changing room, fitting room, dressing room, or tanning booth, or the interior of any other area in which the occupant has a reasonable expectation of privacy, with the intent to invade the privacy of a person or persons inside.
