Thanked: 4826As a mariner I find it difficult to find good footwear. Mucks or bogs boot are my first choice.
neoprene and rubber. they are warm, comfortable, and dry quick. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 580Lucky if I get 6 months out of a boot. Required to wear steel caps in my trade. Used to be local made John Bull or Aussie made Blundstone, but had a bad run with about 5 pair in a row with sole de-laminating. Have gone to Red band, another local brand and looking good after 4 months.

Thanked: 101I am wearing my Issued Belleville steel toes. I like USA made boots too. I have many pairs of GI boots that I still have that will last a long time. The only thing with GI boots is they are not really made for comfort. They do last though. I looked into Georgia Boots, but they are made in China and HQed out of PA. Kind of deceptive...The folks who wore Georgia Boots around me when I lived in GA were highschool kids and folks wanting to look like they put work in. I have heard horror stories about them not holding up at all. Redwing "WORX" brand are China made. Had a pair of slip ons that did pretty good and were steel toe. They lasted quite a while until the sole cracked and a weird glue starting leaving marks all over the floor from the bottom of the shoe. They got tossed. I do have a pair of Redwing USA made steel toes, but the toe box is killing my foot and I cannot wear them for more than a few hours and my feet are done. The most long lasting and durable boots I have found are mil issue boots. Goodwill was always a good place to pick them up due to people PCSing off base and then dumping boxes of old Mil gear at the Goodwill. 10 bucks a pair. I only got the new ones when I went and there were plenty to choose from. All my other ones were actually issued to me.

Thanked: 1184Mostly live in my Tony Lama's now ..... https://www.tonylama.com/footwear/me...ork-boots/4013
When running equipment I also use Redwing ...........Men's 2970 Engineer Pull-On Boot | Red Wing Heritage.......These are not the ones I used to buy as they had no hardware on them . The soles are softer than normal and really grip truck beds and steel. They must have discontinued them or I can't find them ???
Dan Post makes a great waterproof boot in cowboy style I have also used for winter. They are not as expensive as the other 2 Dan Post Men AlbuquerqueGood judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

EMC (assume Chief? I am a first class) I don't mind the Belleville we are issued. They aren't
Bad but we had a run when we were getting generic (Welco brand) and they looked the same but they were terrible. I can't wear my Danners on the ship but I wear them ashore all the time.

Thanked: 101Not a chief I was a 3rd class in the Seabees and I made it to SSgt in the AF. EMC is a play on my first and last name. Not an Electricians Mate. I knew a few folks who had the tall Danners and they liked them a lot. When I was in the 'Bees I had to wear steel toes all the time. They were the old Flight Deck boots with the stitched toe box and they hurt like heck when you wore them. They actually did break in and get comfortable right about the time all the leather would start cracking and the stitching would undo. Folks who bought their own boots would get the Bates. Those are GOOD boots. They wear like sneakers and are lightweight for the most part. I wore them in the AF, but not the Navy.
