Thread: Work kicks

Just curious as to what kind of work boots you gentlemen prefer to wear. Danner are my favorite. IMO you won't find a better pair of boots. Once again I can't figure out how to rotate the picture.

What works for me is to open the file through "My Computer" or which ever folder it is stored, click rotate arrow and then close the window. At least on windows, it should save it in the orientation you prefer. Sometimes it'll actually compress the file so it doesn't take as long to upload to the site.

Can't tell if those are steel toes, had to wear them for my previous job and kept to the shorter ankle length. That early in the morning, need the least amount of lacing to get out the door! No picture, in storage somewhere, will have to dig them out soon anyways. I liked my Wolverines, they're pricey but comfortable even after 10-12 hours of wear. They keep all the information on your purchase for replacement insoles, outer soles, laces etc. Though I usually rip through the leather before that's needed....

Those look like nice kickers. I don't know too much about the company. Are the boots USA made? Being from Minnesota, Redwing boots in Redwing, MN used to make a fine product. Now, my understanding is many of their boots are 100% foreign made, some are partially foreign made, and I'm not sure if any are of their boots are 100% USA made any longer. They must still do something in Redwing since the plant is still there.

I'm needing a new pair of boots and was hoping for USA made. Frye boots are, but they're pricey. I suppose you get what you pay for......

I wish I could justify Danner, as they're $300.00 + over here. Very nice boots. I settled for S.W.A.T. Tactical boots instead, and they're awesome. I wear Royer (Vietnamese) in the oilfield, also a good boot.

I've got a pair of Redwing Iron Rangers in brown I wear for around town. I think the redwing branded shoes are still made in the US but their other brands are made in China.
Thorogood, Chippewa, and Alden are all made in the USA and high quality (and price )

Yes, Danner are made in the US. I love them. They are tough on the pocket but they last forever. A resole is like 115.

Redwing steel toes for when I'm moving heavy stuff.
I've had a couple of pairs of Georgia Boot Company that were pretty comfortable, but the heels fell off of them after about a year.

Hunted with danner but 40 yeas in Redwing the pecos style, best roughneck boot made, I tryed many over the years but on the rig floor they all didn't make the cut. One of my pairs is displayed at the Redwing store I go to as what a boot can take and still work, it's pretty bad , but duct tape kept it going until my new ones showed. Tc

Oh and yes they still are made here except for their other lines, but they are called something else, I don't even look at them,, and Chris Georgia boots steaight out the box were comfortable, but didn't last more than a few months InThe Patch

I just viewed the Redwing website for the first time. I appreciate the fact that they have a search filter in which you can designate the made in USA boots vs. those assembled in the US from imported parts vs. those made in China. I'm glad to see they have over 60 boot and shoe styles still made in the US.
