He explained that the guy that built the house got someone in to do the duct work etc and they used ducts that were too small for this size of house. We could live with it, or we could have the duct work replaced which would mean dry walling and re-flooring the whole house. Replacing duct work in a house that has already been built is a massive undertaking apparently, especially a larger house. And fantastically expensive.
It's not that the cool air doesn't reach the bedroom, more that all the cool air sinks to the lowest point, family room. Conversely, in the winter all the heat rises to the bedroom.
