Thanked: 4824Seeing it all done makes me think there really is not a better wood to trim the scrimshaw with. Does it inspire you to make a Yew box?
A good blade and a well tuned jig are the key to nice tight box joints.

Thanked: 4824That is pretty much all of the bog oak. There was only the cuts from the mitres left over. It was all basically sized around the pieces of bog oak so there would be no waste.

Thanked: 4824The scrimshaw is done on slabs of water buffalo bone from India. They are epoxied to a piece of hemlock.
