    Seeing it all done makes me think there really is not a better wood to trim the scrimshaw with. Does it inspire you to make a Yew box?
    A good blade and a well tuned jig are the key to nice tight box joints.

    That is pretty much all of the bog oak. There was only the cuts from the mitres left over. It was all basically sized around the pieces of bog oak so there would be no waste.

    Very nice Shaun! I agree that the Bog oak makes the perfect trim.What is the material the scrimshaw is done on?

    The scrimshaw is done on slabs of water buffalo bone from India. They are epoxied to a piece of hemlock.

    cool! does water buffalo bone have pores like cow bone? i was under the assumption that bone didn't work so well for scrimshaw because of the pores?
