Hey Guys I was telling some friends about the site, and how I was happy not to have "I'm coming out" or "Dancing Queen" ... what I'm trying to say is could have been worse (what if yours was "YMCA" or "Macho Man"?)

(To those whose song is one of the above...yeah...)

When I found out what song was #1 on my birthday I was really happy to find out that it was 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'. Then I was bummed when I found out that it was the Elton John version!!!!!!

    Not cool......

Interesting video with the music - it appeared to be actual combat film from the Battle of Midway in World War II - I'm a bit of a WWII history buff, and I've never seen any of that particular footage. No idea how or why it related to 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds', which was a reference to LSD - now THOSE were strange times! Like they say...if you can remember the late 60's and early 70's, then you weren't there!

(....Yellow Submarine??? Never did figure THAT one out!...)

Nothing wrong with Elton John having the #1 song on your birthday. Regardless of his lifestyle, he is an incredible artist. And I wonder if a major part of that video is because his father was a member of the RAF?

Also, to answer a question asked earlier, record ratings are based upon sales. To reach #1, you have to have the most sales. The most incredible record I have seen is Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". It was in the top 100 forever! And still one of my favorites.

I am English, so of course what was number one in America doesn't mean so much to me. I looked anyway, and it was Barbara Streisand with The Way We Were or something.

So I decided to look up the English charts lists, and discovered I was Mud with Tiger Feet.

I am still not sure which was better...

On the Brit charts mine is "When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going" by Billy Ocean.

Well, I looked mine up on the US charts... I never heard of the Song or the recording artist... so I won't bother posting it.

No help for me there... it doesn't go back far enough!

So I'm going to pick mine as the "first record I ever owned"... that's a birthing of sorts, isn't it? It was the single "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" recorded by the Tokens. You can hear a clip [ here ].

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
