Thanked: 1587Just got back in the saddle after a bad bout of the flu (Hint: if your employer offers free flu injections, take them ).
Anyway, my birthday US no.1 was Bread "Make it with you". Explains a fair bit, actually. In the UK it was Elvis "The wonder of you".
Out of curiosity, I went back 9-ish months pre-birth to see what my parents were listening to on my conception day: "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies. I always knew my parents were sick. (actually explains why my mum used to call dad Jughead though) :shudder:

Well, at least I've heard of Perry Como!
When I looked mine up the artist was "Frankie Carle" ...
I had never heard of him... so I checked Wikipedia...
"Frankie Carle (March 25, 1903–March 7, 2001) was an American pianist and bandleader. A very popular bandleader in the 1940s and 1950s, nicknamed "The Wizard of the Keyboard", Carle started out working with a number of mainstream dance bands. He received attention when he joined Horace Heidt's band, later becoming co-leader of the band. He left Heidt's band in 1944 to form his own. His daughter, Marjorie Hughes, was the lead female singer. Carle had several million-sellers in the 1940s and early 1950s, including his theme song, "Sunrise Serenade", and "Oh! What It Seemed To Be". He broke up his band after 1955 and he performed mainly as a soloist thereafter. Carle died in Mesa, Arizona in 2001."This is depressing... makes me feel like an old geezer!
(and Lou, I don't need an affirmation from you about that, thank-you!)

It's that I know Lou is older than 5 years, but I'd have sworn that this was his:
I went down to the beach and saw Kiki
She was, like, all "ehhhh"
And I was, like, "whatever!"
Then this chick comes up to me and she's all, like,
" Hey, aren't you that dude?"
And I'm, like, "yeah, whatever!"
So later I'm at the pool hall
And this girl comes up
And she's, like, "awww"
And I'm, like, "yeah, whatever!"
Cuz this is my
United States of Whatever!
And this is my
United States of Whatever!
And this is my
United States of Whatever!
And then it's three A.M.
And I'm on the corner, wearing my leather
This dude comes up and he's, like, "hey, punk!"
I'm, like, "yeah, whatever!"
Then I'm throwing dice in the alley
Officer Leroy comes up and is, like,
" Hey, I thought I told you..."
And I'm, like, "yeah, whatever!"
And then up comes Zafo
I'm, like, "yo, Zafo. What's up?"
He's, like, "nothin'"
And I'm, like, "that's cool."
Cuz this is my
United States of Whatever!
And this is my
United States of Whatever!
OT but I once saw a version of this song where Jay Leno (?) did this song, but inspired by a 'State of the Union' by Bush.
It was very good (funny) but I wasn't able to find it on the internet.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
To spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the Last Day
