Beautiful buildings
Ok you got me all started in We have skills too thread. I'm a bricklayer to the heart and love the detailed work whether it's made out of three, iron or what ever. Back in the days they made some very nice things and more important they was made to last for many many years. For example the buildings built hundred years ago are so detailed and you don't see that craftsmanship on modern buildings today. These days everything has to be completed so fast. When we look back in hundred years we'll see boring buildings with no decoration what so ever compared to the buildings our grandfathers have built. I know it's too expensive because the time used is much more but it's so sad. Heres some of my favourite pictures from Copenhagen. I hope you enjoy these old beautiful buildings just as much as I do.
Theres made a different pattern underneath every single arch and theres at least 50 of them! Thats freaking amazing!

Neither do I and I hope so. They're are built because they're needed right now as fast as possible. Not because of a certain history or occasion like the old ones. I've built some of the new ones as well, it's boring but you can earn good money. Thank good money is not everything, so I stopped that again.

What incredible old buildings...thanks for posting these pictures. I always prefer the restored brick buildings and warehouses to the new construction. The city's latest restoration effort is the old brick Wonder Bread factory.
Another great example is the first Washington Water Power power generation facility on the river. It was designed by Kirtland Cutter. You can see some pictures showing the original look here (just today, I learned that the steel domes on each corner were donated to the war effort in the '40s):

Very nice but let's be honest. How much restoration has been done on those buildings?

Thanked: 227I can't build. It takes a lot of effort for me to put up a fence.
But I love buildings. Especially old religious buildings. Which is weird for a non believer, but they are lovely.
I am off to Venice in July, and venice has some beautiful churches. So hopi g to snap more than the last outing.

I'm 99% sure that the whole building has been repointed. It just dosen't look original it's too dark.
This one also had a repointing job done and changed bricks. You can see that by the color of the bricks and pointing.
This one also had a LOT bricks changed and they even changed much more last summer witch I don't have pictures of.
See all the "pink" bricks they're new.

I imagine through age there has to be some bricks replaced due to weather once the pointing degrades.
You would know better than me, but doesn't pointing have to be redone every 50 years or so?
I guess that varies with climate thoughLook sharp and smell nice for the ladies.~~~Benz
