Thread: The NHL Playoffs have started! which means so has the beard-a-thon...

the fourth and final round begins tomorrow night... The Stanley Cup Finals. Nashville Predators vs Pittsburgh Penguins. Good luck to both teams. I'm pulling for Smashville!

Ok Gentleman it is that time of year once again! The 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs!!!
...now I know this is not a sports forum, but the game of hockey is a gentleman's game (yes I said it again Gentleman's Game! The fact that they line up and shake the other mans hand after weeks of beating the crap out of each other makes it a gentleman's game in my eyes! hahaha) and in the tradition of the chase for Lord Stanley's Cup it is the practice of the players and fans alike to get a final shave before the first playoff game begins and not shave again until they have either won the Stanley Cup or have been knocked out of the playoffs. superstition of the jinx, no time for anything else that does not involve hockey, eat, sleep, crap and play hockey are among a few of reasons behind this tradition. By the time the final round of games start you will notice some magnificent beards on most all of the players and the die hard fans.
Unfortunately my New York RANGERS did not make the big show but being a fan of this sport there will be plenty of good hockey to watch and as I did last year I will do my best to keep you abreast of the rounds and match ups and who gets to go shave and who advances. I will not be partaking in the beard~a~thon this year due to NYR not being in the running (plus I got to many new razors to not shave for 2 months!)
I will be pulling for the San Jose Sharks ~ Let's Go Sharks!
I will also be routing for the Nashville Predators (Winners of the Presidents Trophy this year) Go Smashville!
Will this be Alexander Ovechkin's year??? Good luck Ove!
Will the Vegas Golden Knights be the first ever expansion team to win the cup? They have set all kinds of records already this year...
Will Pittsburgh win the cup for the 3rd year in a row???

...it has begun!

I am old enough (do the calculation) to remember the last time the Toronto Maple Leafs won the cup.

In those days of the 6 team NHL, the cup winners played the all stars from the other 5 teams in the all star game at home. I was lucky to get seats beside the goal judge. The starting forward line for the all stars was Howe, Hull and Belliveau.

It’s been down hill for Leaf fans ever since. I am hopeful, but won’t hold my breath waiting for a repeat.

I would like to see Ovi get his name on the cup. He has been amazing for his entire career, but the Cup has escaped the Caps continuously. I am glad to see the Leafs are in it, as the hockey world is better when Toronto is relevant. (lets not talk about the Habs). I surely hope the Penguins dont win.

Was fun to watch Bruins playoff hockey...it’s been 2-3 years .....5-1 drumming of the Leafs last night ,was a good start !
