Thanks for posting. Although we live in a world with difficult challenges, it is good to know that we have children growing up with the skills needed to solve those challenges.

A couple of weeks ago, I drove to Virginia to see my own grandaughter receive her black belt in Taekwondo. She is about the same age as your granddaughter. Not only was I proud of her, but I was also proud of all those who tested alongside her. They have all learned skills that will serve them well as individuals as they mature into adulthood and begin to fix the mess that older generations will leave behind.

Beautiful child, and perspective. Gives me hope for the future, and a greater appetite for pie.

Congrats Richard, every reason to burst a seam over that video project sir!

Thank you Razorfeld. I appreciate you return. I just recently learned of the condition and immediately began researching and carbohydrate starving myself and loosing weight at the same time. I am currently 223 and should be no more than 190. I am hoping the weight loss will change everything for me, but I have noticed that this carbohydrate starvation 40grams and less per day sends me into some strange sensations like light headedness, tingeling muscles. I have noted that when I eat something like a half a cantaloupe this sensation disappears. This I have experianced years passed and eating something sweet always seemed to clear the condition. My blood sugars average at this time 114 or a 5.7, just barely tipping over the pre-diabetic boarders. I am resting in moderate panic.

Anything under 6.0 and the docs are happy. Mine is currently 5.8. I'm not a big guy, 5'5" (lifetime loss so far of 3") and 172 lbs, down from 200 at the time of diagnosis. Aiming for 160, but appetite keeps getting in the way. Now have a veggie heavy diet with fish or chicken/turkey. Lamb is a treat and beef and pork low on the totem pole. Don't miss them if the spice and herb levels are working well. Blood sugars range from 76 to 117 depending on time of day and my doc is happy (even if he thinks I'm a slight hypochondriac.)

Thank you Razorfeld. I really appreciate you taking your time to share that with me. Right now my average is 114 mg/dL or 5.70%. My daily is all over the place if I take it every two hours, which I presume is preposterous to do. Last night I had about 1/3 to 1/2 of a fairly middlen chunk of Cantaloupe which I expected my BS to skyrocket overnight along with 1/2 of a burger bun with about 2 tsp of butter at 2:00 a.m.. Took my BS count this morning and it showed 114 mg/dL. Since I am new to this it is killing me because I have always been a fresh fruit nut and to have to cut it to one cup a day is a nightmare. This afternoon I wanted a Burger King Triple Whopper so horriably bad. Tonights supper will hopefully soften the rage. Capicola ham, Champagene soft cheese with tomato and mayonnaise.
Again, thank you ever so much for taking the time to share with me. I appreciate that you have extended yourself this way. Kindness extended from others carries deep meaning to the one receiving. Again Razorfeld I thank you ever so much.

Gentlemen my X wife , a brittle type two diabetic, was told by her MD.."What care you take for your diabetes will prolong your useful life !" I saw her a while back after 20 + years and she looked the same with little aging, she is 72!

Thank you geezer form sharing that. Told that I look to be more in my mid 60's but I feel late 80's despite the fact that so many eighty year olds get along much better than I. What I am faced with regarding this issue is conflict of information. Again thank your for caring enough to post your comment. I appreciate it. It is people like you than give hope to others in dark moments.

    Great video.

Reminds me of a story my father told me of my Great Grandmother. She died shortly after I was born and it is thought that she desired to live long enough to hold a great grandchild.

She told my father that if you live to see the changes in your life that I have seen you will be absolutely amazed.

She went from horse and buggy to seeing a man in space.
