No disrespect to the US intended, it's great country full of great people. I have been to every State and would love to move to Oregon or Vermont. I am just trying to make a good humored point
No problem Steve. I always had in my mind that for me abroad meant you had to cross an ocean to get there. That is why I said "in the usual sense". Needing passports to cross the border either way has altered the relationship greatly and is no longer like going to visit the neighbours.

That a different kind of animal, these sand oils, but to get it to market, we’re the ones that can get it done

Yes, a different animal but a very big one. The petrochemical industry is one and the same in both countries. Think of how many more Americans would have been out of work had the tar sands shut down. OTH oil and gas drilling and exploration shut down in Canada same as in the US. Like the US this part of the industry is coming back now.

The low oil prices were devastating to the coffers of Canada. Federally they get giant royalties, but also the provinces share the high income of the oil producing provinces. They money is split through equalization payments. Some of the have not provinces completely depend on those payments. So the poor oil prices have devastated non oil producing provinces like PEI.

Shaun, what you need are some biomass plants there. That'll fix all your problems.

I think what we really need is for all the provinces to generate enough income to stand on their own. Some of our provinces are dead ass broke, the welfare provinces you might say.
