Crater lake Oregon.

I find it amazing that there's no rivers flowing into the lake, all the water is provided by snow and rain fall.
We visited during the second week of August---the gift shop had most everything marked 1/2 price as it was the end of the tourist season and they would be shutting down in a few weeks.
Yep, 1,949 feet deep. Deepest in the US and ninth in the world. (That's a lot of snow!)
A bit of info---Snow on the ground in June :gaah:

I work at a hospital with the last I saw 2500 workers at our site. 24/7 so many different shifts. I keep being told for example that my wife's 2nd cousin works there and her name is Sue or Mary. Do I know them? LOL
I feel that I am pretty good with faces but not names so I may know them in passing but not by name.

Sherman's Fox squirrel, Sciurus niger shermani
Attachment 324195
That's a squirrel you could make a meal out of. For reference that's a 6" post he's sitting on
In Kentucky we had "Fox" squirrels. They were three tines the size of grey squirrels.
They were very good eating.
Here's a site we haven't seen for a while.

We got some huge fox squirrels around here, too.
I find the black and Grey squirrels a lot more tender, and much easier to skin.
What is that a picture of Paul?
Looks like a school zone caution light....
Those lights have been on all year around these parts. Kids or not. And the man hidding around the corner waiting for you to speed thru.
We don’t have lights for our school zones, just signs that state the times of day during school days. It’s up to you as a motorist to know what days are school days, so stats, weekends, school breaks, it’s not a school zone.
Bobby, how can you think of eating him? He looks at you like you look at him.
No he doesn't; he looks at me for food and water, I look at him for steaks, roasts, burgers and stews.
Conversation between my brother in laws wife and him when the steer was ready for butchering---:w
I'd like you to meet a few of my ancestors. No Lie.!!

Glad we're able to send you some nice sunsets. Post a few if you can get some good ones. Our sunsets have been quite orange to grey here of late. The air is better today but still listed as poor and no relief in site.
Here's a map with the current fires out here in the west:
Attachment 324432
What I don't understand living in the Midwest is that most of these fires seem to be grass fires.
The house might be burnt but the tree next to it is green.............
This link will take you to the most common native trees in the Pacific Northwest.
https://www.arcgis.com/apps/MapJourn...379d7962b20bb0 Click on the V at the far left of the page. That should take you to the listing of Native Trees.
Notice anything in common with the majority of the trees?
Now while Washington is known as the 'Evergreen State' right down the middle is a dessert. That dessert extends north to British Columbia and south to Oregon State. Those areas have sage brush, tumble weeds and yes grasses. During these hot dry times most of the plant life out there is like dehydrated gasoline--one tiny spark and Whoosh! You got a big problem.
The other day we had a hell of a windstorm. Downed limbs some trees and those winds weren't of any help with these wildfires.
One small town NW of Walla Walla lost about 80% of the buildings. See here:

I believe that just today they caught some Cork Soaker lighting a fire on the East Side of Washington. I also believe that the fire was quickly extinguished before it could spread.
We need RAIN! But no lighting storms.
Enough of my rant, I'll let the thread go back to what Dave intended when he started it.
2 inches of snow here yesterday. I didn't get a pic. Sorry. Today it was 28 when I went to work but warmed up to 50+. The day before the snow was low 90s. How is a guy to know how to dress.
Layers. Lots of layers.
