Right, all that wear & tear. Those yuppies & the fair weather riders..........
I loved it when the aftermarket car alarms came out & I would go through a parking lot & rev the motor to hear all those alarms going off!!!!
What was so annoying is when you're sitting at home trying to watch TV & an alarm goes off yet the owner acted as if they didn't hear it or those punks with the loud bass turned up in their cages rattling the windows & knocking stuff nearly off a shelf.Last edited by engine46; 09-25-2017 at 07:50 PM.

As I got up from watching TV this evening my truck alarm went off. I knew immediately that I had started it!
I dislike that I am told that I need a remote for my vehicle. I have a couple of keys with a chip that will start my truck but if I use even the key with the remote to unlock the door I need to start it within 12 seconds or the alarm goes off. And how many times have I unlocked it accidentally?????
I would like the remote to work not more that 20' .
Then I don't want 17 light bulbs to light every time I open the door of the truck. That is not when I have a trailer attached!
I could get a computer to get the police blackout mode or there are other ways that I can fool the computer but they are much work or money. With the powers available with computers why can't I easily make my vehicle do what I want?????

When I was at my best friends place this summer his rig would suddenly start with some kind of Alarm! He would cuss and cuss and had to actually go to the rig to get the frigging thing to stop. The same thing happened when he was at my place helping me build my new gate.
Seems that there is a 'button' on the remote that he keeps in his pants pocket that is accidentally hit that causes this AW CRAP to happen. He tells me it's happened when he and his lovely bride have been in meetings, square dances and motels.
I told him to use some Super Glue to keep the Frigging Button from being used!

Good point about the alarm button but I still need the open button or have to start it within 12 seconds....
At least the alarm button lets me know when it is pushed accidentally and I can shut mine off remotely.

When i got my first fancy car that had the remote and an alarm button i set that sucker off a lot. I then took the remote apart, cut one of the traces that go to that button, and now i dont have the issue. I cant turn alarm off and on by remote but at least i dont set it off anymore in my pocket.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Data used with a singular verb. Data is a plural word for information, facts and statistics.
To me it sounds as wrong as "My pants is too short"Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr.

Definitely sympathize with this. I hear masters-level data science and analytics majors use this incorrectly on an almost daily basis and it's cringeworthy
...that said my grammar and punctuation has been called out on here before. so i suppose it's nitpicking the important parts of language on my part.

I don't like to be corrected by people that think language should and will not evolve.

Thanked: 458I don't like it when communication is otherwise clear, and someone still feels the need to say "I think you meant to say ____"
They usually expect you to follow up with appreciation, or nothing, and I usually follow up with "I think anyone listening would interpret either of those to mean the same thing. If that's true, either is good enough for me".
