Buy some Espresso machine soap. It will clean the coffee stain off stainless in about one minute.
If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

My first job was a bus boy at 14. It was a mom and pop breakfast joint. The waitresses always cleaned the coffee pots with lemon juice salt and ice cubes. Juice for the acid and salt and ice for a mild and effective abrasive. I’m of the mind, if it’s not broke don’t fix it. I’ve done nothing to my coffee cup but rinse it. Sure it looks nasty but my coffee taste great.
