Whenever I send out items worth 150$+ I always take pictures of item next to the date I am shipping it. Sometimes if item is worth enough I take pictures as I wrap it up. One thing you can always check for is the persons reputation. If they have plenty of good reviews decently old account should be safe. If you get someone with brand new ebay account or bad reviews, better be prepared.

Also I like to send my razors in the small flat rate boxes instead of envelope as well. I think chances of something in padded envelope small but not really worth the extra risk unless if its a razor sub 50$ or so.
