Took the DE but with no blade. At the TSA they pulled my bag aside and pulled out the DE. Guess the blade wouldnt have made it thru anyway. Then i had to show two people how to open the thing. Young people have no idea. Although i did get a special pass at the medal detector. Guessing because im getting old. I aint old yet dammit! Ha.

My condolences to you and your family, Jerry--it's great that you can be there to support your Mom.

Good call on not bringing a blade in your DE...that's not being chicken, just being smart! CVS or Walgreens should have blades; if not, you can always do the BIC razor burn thing.

I bought some blades at WM a while back when I was running low. They have their own brand of DE safety razors, blades, soap, etc. Not saying you'll be converting to them, but they should do the job.

And condolences to your mother. I'm sure she will appreciate you taking the time off. That is fortunate your new employer is being so understanding.

next time, just mail some to your destination, but like I said, Walgreens, CVS, Or Rite Aid, they all carry a blade, not my favorite blade but a decent blade for not having your regular ones. anytime I have flown, I package up a pack of Feathers and mail them to my hotel to hold at the counter, or if for family I send to there house, cost... about 1$

    Cool

Jerry my condolences to you and your family.
Little late to your original inquiry about DE. I've been traveling with my DE in the carry on. Out of 14 trips taken over last 15 months or so. I only had my bag opened once to search for a blade... guess what? The blade was in a wrapper at the bottom of my cosmetics bag.
That tells you, it's a hit or miss.

    P.S.
I always keep my DE separated, head from the handle. The only time I forgot to do that, was when my bag was selected for a secondary screening!

My condolences to you and your mom. Good advice to keep the DE dismantled, handle and head separate no blade. Wally World should have DE blades, at least they do here. Have a safe trip.

Thanks guys. I know mom will be happy to have me around for a few days. Im in seattle now and did a search. Fou d a shaving store at a mall close to my sisters house. She picked me up at airport so on the way to moms we will run by the mall. Its not an AOS but they should ha e some decent blades. Just didnt want to buy wilkersons or derbys.

All will be fine and ill be able to get a decent sha e after all. Seporating the blade, head and handle would have been a good idea. Maybe next time. I normally ship my straights to ware im going to be but this was so short notice i didnt have that option.

Now, if i can remember how to use a DE. Brought the Gillette adjustable. Will post a SOTD tonight. Thanks for all the help and ideas and well wishes. All will turn out fine in the end so thats all that matters. And mom will be happier.
