    Default It's a girl!

Sunday morning at 09:20 hours GMT+1, My wife Sandra gave birth to our second daughter Nele.

Her full name is Nele Ann Sara van Dooren. She weighs 3.06 kg, and is 48 cm long. Both the mother and the daughter are fine.

Nele had been very active Sunday evening, and for longer than average. At 9 PM, Sandra told me that something was going on inside. I called my parents to tell them it was time to come and get our oldest daughter Kato so that we could go to the hospital.

At 23:15, my mom and my brother showed up. We installed the car seat and I went to wake up Kato. She was a bit groggy from being woken in deep sleep, but also curious why her grandmother and godfather were there so late. We had started preparing her for several months now so that she understood what was going to happen.

We did not know if she understood, but apparently she was very talkative in the car on her way to my parents, talking about how mommy and daddy went to the hospital to get the baby out of mommy's belly.

The birth process took 12 hours, from the 1st light contraction to the last painful push. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the strength and self-control Sandra showed during labour.
Despite the fact that I felt completely useless, I did what I could, comforted her as best as possible and talked to the nurses during labour when my wife was too far gone to ask for things or give coherent replies.
I am convinced that if men had to give birth, there would be a lot less people on the planet.

Here she is: the newest apple of my eye.:

Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
To spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the Last Day

Congrats Bruno!!! Wonderfull for you and your family. We found out recently that we'll have a new member of the family around march as well...it'll be our first so I don't really know what to expect but considering everyone who has a child is thouroughly excited I'm sure I will be as well.

Congrats my friend. Very nice picture. Seems like it all went well and you seems happy and very content.

As I said before this really makes me want to go and see my little cousins some more, and I can't wait for my cousin to have her third which is due in September lol. She is a baby making machine (Kiele she is 4, Rhys pronounced Reese and he is 2.)

Though my cousin has nothing on my Grandma who had 8 kids and I know that isn't a lot as my friend who is French Canadian her grandmother had 18 kids.

Keep up with the updates, and again congradualtions!

Oh yes, this is a great news Bruno.

    Hearty congratulations!

I’m going to open my 12 years old whiskey now. To your health!

Give my best regards to the whole family.

    Congrats again!

Congratulations to you and your family, Bruno!

What a beautiful baby. Wishing you all the best for the coming months. (BTW, having a second whilst the first is still young gives you a whole new set of challenges! But it's all good.)

And Alex, congrats to you too. Better get those coticules locked away, you wouldn't want little bite marks in them!
