Today it is pretty rare, but even then, 1 is too much.

Suppose you were the one going to the chair because you happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, with a possible motive and DNA evidence which could have multiple possible reasons for being there. Would you still agree?

Give them a couple of years to come up with new ideas..., I mean new evidence and if they haven't, well...
I do think it should be fairly quick and painless and I'm not sure the electric chair quite qualifies. I think I'd prefer to be shot. The last meal bit strikes me as slightly absurd as well since you probably wouldn't have a great appetite and might be likely to bring it back up while making your way to the place of execution. Not that you're allowed anything you want anyway afaik, even if the prison cooks could prepare it.

I'd probably want to shave myself with a straight one last time. Would be denied probably. Just imagine killing myself and denying the state the pleasure

Scratch that. On top of a thermonuclear weapon would be just fine.
Nerve cells work with ms accuracy. A thermonuclear blast happens in microseconds. I wouldn't even know it had happened until I met the Discworld's most fomous anthropomorphism (not sure if I spelled that correctly)
