Thanked: 227Sorry to break it to you, but it's not nearly as bad as the selective reporting of media is making out.
I now and then happen to London for work, and generally don't feel unsafe. There has statistically been an upsurge in London of knife crime from my understanding and the odd shooting, but those are mostly gang related, and have little impact on general public safety.
I would hazard London has statistically speaking no more theft or robbery than any other major city. And remember the population of greater London is about the same as Scotland as a whole lol, you jam that many people into an enclosed area, you're gonna get crime.
Also, there has been quite a surge of routinely armed police officers on the streets in the UK, something I personally support.
To answer a question, in the UK carrying any defensive weapon other than dye sprays for self defence is illegal. Please let's not get into a debate over that though, our laws work for the most part for us.
If you come to the UK cities to visit, the same safeguards as other cities would apply, be selfnaware, don't flaunt your property etc.

I was wondering about that. When I did a wee bit of googling about London crime yesterday, almost everything that came up was from a paper that, as Billy Bragg points out, Scousers never buy. I.e. a paper not to be taken at face value considering their shameful history of bias and outright lies.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

A similar case to the chaos, anarchy and no-go areas in Stockholm, Sweden? You know, those Swedish no-go areas that only seem to exist in the USA during the dog days of summer.

There are seedy areas in most places. I don't need the sensational media to tell me anything about it.
All that is needed is to look around you and decide to turn back at times.
Besides, I don't believe much the media tells me these days..

Thanked: 3227Yupper, you have to know when to hold em and when to fold em wrt areas in cities anywhere.
The "media" is such a broad term today covering everything from reputable newspapers/magazines/TV networks which fact check/verify their facts sources to tabloids, twitter, Facebook, blogs and the like where virtually nothing is trustworthy. Even with the reputable media I like to check the reports from different parts of the world on the same issue. The rest of the so called media I pay little attention to unless I want a few laughs.
