Just been one of those nights
I will start by saying i did nothing wrong and the cop just did a quick inspection of my truck and trailer and let me go. But the lady in the Tesla is hating life about now.
Just before an entersection with a signal light she thought she would change lanes at the last second, into the passenger side of my truck. We were traveling about 30mph and i got a scratch on my aluminum step about an inch long and a paint mark on the sidewall of my front tire. She lost a mirror, crushed the driver door and front fender and got hauled away on a tow truck.
I contacted my boss after i checked to be sure she was ok and he was on the scene before the cops were. Im in the clear, not at fault and i got her to sign a form stating that she was at fault. We carry these in the insurance folder. So no personnal injories but shes got to deal with an insurance company and repairs on an exspensive car.
The funny thing is, ive hit bumps in the road harder than what i felt when she tapped the side of my truck. So to all those people out there, dont try to out run a semi at the last second as we might not even notice/feel it when we crush your car! It's just Sharpening, right?

BTW, I guess this is why i was in a bit of a pissy mode earlier. Sorry gents. I try not to let it get to me but some times you just want to slap the %\_+$#& out of someone, but you cant!

Glad it wasn't your fault Jerry and that there wasn't any injury's. I guess we all have done things that could have (in her case, did) led to a accident. I've caught myself not paying attention for a moment that could have ended up bad if the situation had been right.Defensive driving is the name of the game. Again, glad everyone's ok.

Dang Jerry, you have a full schedule!
I'm glad it wasn't a worse situation.
Goes to show having a nice expensive car has little bearing on the quality of an individual.
My 8yr old says "dad that guy in the Ferrari should drive better! How can he have a nice car and drive so bad?"
Me "Well that's a good question son, it's hard for me to answer shortly, let's just say that humans have less natural predators nowadays."

Very good to hear you're OK and that everyone walked away. Shame about the car though (I have a soft spot for electric cars). One of those folks with more money than sense, I suppose. Even beyond her dumbass driver move, it amazes me sometimes how many people fail to understand the basic physics behind that scenario!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 634Glad you are ok and not at fault. Sounds like she was on the phone or not paying g attention.
You should come down here to Florida. Left turns from the right lane, right turns from the left lane. When the light turns green you hesitate because at least 2 or 3 cars will go through the red light. I think half the driver's down here are too old or have no license.
Stay safe my friend.

I'm often amazed too about what seems to be an ignorance or denial of physics..
"But the little green guy tells me that I can walk now.."
True. There is also a very heavy object coming your way.. fast enough to crush you.. let's take a brief moment to consider our options..
I have a big respect for heavy equipment/truck drivers.
You gotta deal with scary avoidable situations all the time, it's probably hard not to get a little bent.

Thanked: 4827Well Jerry, it’s just stuff. No harm and perhaps she learned a valuable lesson in checking before changing lanes. Most people won’t make the same mistake twice when it comes to these things. I’d love to say I have never caused and accident or had a near miss that was totally my fault. I do feel bad that you had your day messed up. The instant stress takes a lot of energy.
